About Us
Our Mission and Vision
Mission Statement
To be stewards of our community and shape current and future generations, by: Promoting and developing programs to provide wellness education and assistance where it is needed; Collecting, reviewing, and distributing information pertaining to health and wellness issues that negatively affect underserved and marginalized members of our community with the goal of reducing stigma and increasing prevention and access to treatment; Working to build and improve the health infrastructure of Montgomery County; Providing support to existing organizations to improve their impact of good on the community.
Our Vision
To establish a non-judgmental, inclusive, non-alienating, safe and caring environment to encourage outreach and dialogue to and for its residents, which are the primary ingredients used to allow all people to have equal opportunity to realize their life’s potential and life’s possibility through good health in mind, body, and spirit.
Our Fundamental Principles
- The concepts of humanity and morals are not exclusive to religion.
- Education is the ultimate leverage for change.
- Over saturation of non profit organizations that provide like services can actually weaken their impact.
- Many non-profits do not have proper foundations for long term change.
- Sometimes the individual can be stronger than the group.
- Time can be more valuable than money.
Our History
Meae Wellness was started October 3rd, 2003 as Clarksville Area Ministers Technical Assistance Network (“CAMTAN”), under the vision, care and guidance of the Greenwood Community Missionary Baptist Church. In 2016 CAMTAN started reorganizing and reassessing their organizational goals and ensuring an alignment to better serving the community. After this process, in June of 2018, CAMTAN officially voted to change their brand and name to Meae Wellness to reflect the evolution the organization had gone through.
CAMTAN was originally organized to provide much needed assistance to people living with HIV in the Clarksville-Montgomery County Area in the form of transportation support. This was needed due to there being little availability of infectious disease specialists in the area. Everyone living with HIV must travel to Nashville, and a select few to Springfield for treatment options. This service has continued to be a needed one within the community.
Over the past few years the population of Clarksville - Montgomery County has grown extraordinary and we are currently on course to become the 4th largest population in the state of Tennessee. With this growth comes the need for changes in different infrastructures within a community; One of them being health infrastructure. Community Service Organizations are one of the most important elements of an effective health infrastructure, and without proper scaling of infrastructure within a community, it’s citizens and finances suffer. Because of this, Meae Wellness has widened CAMTAN’s initial mission to include using wellness education to reinforce the foundation of the health infrastructure in our communities.

Meae Wellness is overseen by our Governing Body, lead by the Governing Council, which has all powers of governing and directing, and of overseeing the management of the business and affairs, in conjunction with our Executive members, of the organization.
